Bogibeel Bridge - Assam




Bogibeel Rail cum Road Bridge, a project delayed by Congress Govt and Completed by Narendra Modi. This combined rail-cum-road bridge is constructed over the Brahmaputra River.

The project for Bogibeel bridge was started in 2002 during the Vajpayee Government. It was expected to complete in 2008. The project got delayed during the UPA government. It was Narendra Modi who triggered the work again and it was opened to public by NAMO on Dec 25th 2018 on Good Governance Day.

Features of Bogibeel Bridge

  • It is a combined Rail-cum-Road Bridge.
  • Total Length of Bogibeel bridge is 4.94km.
  • It is the Longest Rail-cum-Road bridge in India and second longest in Asia.
  • It has double rail line on the lower deck and a two lane road on the upper deck.
  • Bogibeel bridge connects Dhemaji district and Dibrugarh District in Assam.
  • No of Spans: 41
  • Longest Span: 125m
  • The Bridge can support the movement of Tanks and FighterJet Landings
